Contemporary British Artist Julie Langford walking through her garden, inspiration for her work exploring emotion and the natural world.

About

Julie Langford is a contemporary British artist whose work explores our search for happiness, hope, love and connection.

Working with familiar pharmaceutical forms capsules, prescription bottles and medical language she transforms objects associated with treatment into playful yet thought-provoking works about emotion and modern life.

Her practice began with a fascination for the idea that many of the things we most desire cannot simply be prescribed. Joy, love, hope and calm become the medicine, inviting us to consider what or who we turn to when we need to feel better.

Alongside her prescription-inspired work, Julie explores wider themes of consumption, wellbeing and our relationship with the world around us.

Often witty at first glance, the work carries a more reflective question beneath the surface: what do we really need to feel well?

Julie works from Nottinghamshire, UK.
